Setup of Sony Ericsson T68i to Palm Tungsten T using Built in IrDA Ports for Optus GPRS.
Prerequisite
Please ensure that the GPRS service provider has enabled the sim card for the GPRS service.
Setting up the handset
1. On the handset, press the joystick in, scroll to the Connect icon and press yes.
2. Scroll to Data Comm. and press yes.
3. Scroll to Data Accounts and press yes.
4. Scroll to Add Account? and press yes.
5. Scroll to GPRS data and press yes.
6. Enter in the Name field and press yes.
7. Select APN, press yes and enter internet. Press yes.
8. Scroll to User id, press yes and enter (please leave blank) . Press yes.
9. Scroll to Password, press yes and enter . Press yes.
10. Scroll down to SAVE? and press yes.
11. Press No until you get to the main screen.
Setting up the modem
1. On the PDA, tap on the Home icon.
2. Tap on the drop down list situated on the top right hand corner of the screen and tap System.
3. Tap on the Prefs icon.
4. Tap Communication and then tap Connection.
5. Tap on New.
6. In the Name field, enter a name for the connection for example MyHandset.
7. From the Connect to drop down list, select PC.
8. From the Via drop down list, select Infrared.
9. Tap on Details.
10. Set Speed to 57600 bps.
11. From the Flow Ctl drop down list, select Automatic.
12. Tap on OK, then OK.
13. Tap on Done.
Setting up the connection
1. On the PDA, tap on Network.
2. In the Service field, enter .
3. In the User Name field, enter guest .
4. In the Password field, enter guest .
5. In the Connection drop down list, tap on the name of connection that was created in Step 6 of Setting up the modem.
6. Tap on Details.
7. On Connection Type drop down list, select PPP.
8. On Idle Time out drop down list, select Never.
9. Tap on Script.
10. Tap the End drop down list, select Send and enter AT&F
11. Tap the End drop down list, select Send CR
12. Tap the End drop down list and select Send , enter AT+CGDCONT=5,”IP”,”internet”
13. Tap the End drop down list, select Send
14. Tap the End drop down list and select Send
15. Tap the End drop down list and select Send CR
16. Tap the End drop down list, select Send and enter ATD*99***5#
17. Tap the End drop down list, select Send CR and do not enter anything.
18. Tap the End drop down list, select Wait For and enter Connect.
19. Tap on OK, then OK.
Making the connection
1. On the handset, press the joystick in, scroll to Connect and press yes.
2. Scroll to Infrared port, press yes , select On and press yes.
3. Press no twice.
4. Place the infrared port of the handset in line with the infrared port of the PDA.
5. On the PDA, tap on Connect.
You are now connected to the GPRS service
Configuring your email settings
Prerequisite
This guide is a GPRS Email guide written for use with VersaMail, which comes on the Palm Software CD. Please install VersaMail before continuing with this guide.
Setting up the GPRS email
1. Tap on the Home icon.
2. Tap on the VersaMail icon.
3. Tap on the Menu icon that is underneath the Home icon.
4. Tap on the Accounts Menu and then tap Account Setup.
5. Tap on New…
6. Next to Account Name enter a name for your email account, for example .
7. Next to Mail Service tap on the drop down box and tap on Other.
8. Next to Protocol tap on the drop down box and tap on POP.
9. Tap on Next.
10. In the spaces enter your Username and Password.
11. Tap on Next.
12. In the space provided for enter your Email address .
13. In the space provided enter your email provider’s Incoming Mail Server as po.pacific.net.au.
14. In the space provided for the Outgoing Mail Server enter mail.optusnet.com.au.
15. Tap on Next.
16. Tap on Done.
The device has now been configured for GPRS email. |
